A couple of weeks ago we scored some great second hand furniture finds. Our town has a buy/sell/trade page on facebook and there are quite often gems to be found. We bought a wing-back chair and an antique sectional couch. I would actually love it if someone could tell me a bit more about our couch. I've never seen a sofa like this before. Perhaps it had a different name than "sectional" when it was made? I tried Googling for images and also perused eBay, but have not find anything quite like it. Any suggestions or comments would be very welcome! I'm wondering if it wasn't made in two sections to allow for moving convenience as it is quite long when the two pieces are side by side. It would be difficult to get it up a tight staircase.

I will likely reupholster the chair and possibly the sofa as well. We'll see how things go once I get them cleaned properly and how they look amongst the other furniture, drapery, etc.
This is the chair, currently residing in the girls' room due to a furniture moving miscommunicado...not so bad for bedtimes stories though, so it may stay!
Now we have The Great Furniture Rearranging Dilemma to solve. Our living room and dining room are actually one room, an L-shape of sorts. There is a giant window in the living room, and there are cut outs in the wall between the dining room and the kitchen and the living room and the kitchen. It makes it tricksy when placing furntiure, especially things like bookcase and the piano, which are taller than the bottom of the cutout. I've measured the room and made a diagram on grid paper. I need to do the same with the furniture, and then I can "move the furniture" around before actually having to lug things around thr room itself. Modern furniture seems to be much lighter than the antique stuff. I *could* move the antique couch and piano if I desperately had to but it would require tremendous effort and the use of things to slide the furniture along. Our modern pieces I can easily shove to the side with my knee. This requires patience as I typically move things around while Dwayne is at work and so now I need to wait for help!
