We got a big box in the mail the other day from Ikea. The kids claimed it for their own and ever since someone or other has been occupying the box or its lid during daylight hours. Judah even asked to bring his "sub" to his room to nap in yesterday!
While our middle daughter has been off on a vacation with my parents, our eldest and youngest daughters have been playing together a lot. They found all sorts of fun out in the woods last weekend and Riley even built a makeshift playground for her little siblings out of logs and scraps of lumber that we had at the cabin. There was lots of running around, making up of games, walking in the woods, and scoping out potential Christmas trees.
We have a newly minted four year old in the house! Her requests this for her party this year were for heart garlands, hearts on her cake, a Peppa Pig party game, and guests in costumes if they wished. Although, mostly when you asked her questions about what she wanted for her party or who she wanted to invite she would respond with, "It's a secret." I had to explain that she needed to tell me, if no one else, otherwise I couldn't make the things she was wishing for happen. She conceded and we came up with a few things that made her quite happy and excited. The cardboard box Peppa Pig game was the hit of the night. I think the bean bag game was being played or the box was played in for 95% of the night. It was only left on its own when it was time for cake!
I do sometimes link to resources that I and my family personally use and recommend. I participate in Amazon's associates program and if you enter Amazon.ca through my blog and then make a purchase, I will receive a small percentage of the sale. I link to Amazon more for the sake of making it easy for people to find certain book titles, however, if you have a local bookshop that has a good selection please support independent booksellers. I often shop on eBay and online secondhand book shops as we don't have a book shop of any size nearby.
