A big week!

This has been quite the week!  Dwayne's parents arrived for a visit and my grandparents were up visiting as well.  Plus, I have two grandparents who live locally.  For the first time the kids had all of their grandparents and great-grandparents in the same place at the same time!  We took a four generation family photo the other night.  Sadly, I didn't get one on my phone but I'm sure someone will get me a copy from their camera soon.

Dwayne and his dad went hunting earlier in the week and came home with lots of grouse and a small bison.  We celebrated Thanksgiving early as we had so many family in town.  In place of the traditional turkey, we had grouse and a bison roast.  Delicious! 

Judah had his first haircut this week.  He went from wispy baby hair with serious wingies to a big boy hair cut.  So cute and what a change!  Love it though!

Abby embarked on an adventure with Grandma and GrandBarry.  She is traveling to Prince Edward Island with them to visit my middle sister and her family who live there and on the way there and the way home she will get to visit with my youngest sister who lives in Alberta.  This will be her first trip away from home for any length of time without us.  We miss her already but know she will have a wonderful time!

Poor Emma collapsed at the end of the driveway in tears because, "It not like our family without Abby."  So true!

 

 

A decade!

Hendrik also had a birthday this week - the big 1-0!  He was quite thrilled with his gifts - books, Star Wars LEGO to add to his collection, a watch with an alarm/stopwatch/timer, and even a bear claw and tooth.  He's growing up fast!

 

Happy birthday, Abby!

It was Abby's birthday this week!  The days leading up to it were filled with creating amazing things with LEGO, lots of drawing and painting, figuring out how things work, and generally finding fun or making jokes.

These lovely girls!  There has been much scootering, jam making, Barbie playing, singing, dancing, hair styling, board game playing, and dog snuggling as of late.  This photo is a sneak peak from the family photo shoot we had in early August.

I'm not sure who is happier to see who at lunchtime.  This is a common sight on workdays. :)

These two boys!  I tried to get a photo of them together tonight at bedtime.  Do you think they could both be still at the same time?  I don't like to use the flash on my camera so I tend to end up with blurry photos from time to time.  Big and little obviously love each and at certain angles you can really see how alike they sometimes look.

I have not been sleeping well.  At all.  It's been going on about 2 weeks now and I am so tired.  Two nights ago I finally managed to fall asleep before 4:30a.m.  I was awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night but managed to be conscious the next morning as Dwayne was heading out the door for work.  I remained upright all day thanks to copious amounts of caffeine and the adrenaline rush that comes with having a 3 year old in the house.  Yesterday was one of those "fake it 'til you make it" sort of days and I decided that make-up was in order so I could at least attempt to fool myself if I caught my reflection during the day - at least I'd look awake, and maybe it would translate into feeling awake.  It was worth a shot anyway...  The girls always like it when I wear make-up as well.  I don't do it often so they notice right away!
