We have a bit of an ugly propane regulator valve type thing on the outside of our house. A few years ago I noticed a wild rose bush pushing its way up right in front of it. I toyed with ripping the prickly plant out but thought twice when I thought of how quickly those bushes grow and how pretty they can be. An added bonus of that is that they are weeds and need no water or care to flourish. This week the "prickly roses", as Riley has dubbed them, are in bloom. They are beautiful to look at and heavenly to smell. I have sweet rose perfume drifing in to my kitchen window. Lovely! (Even more so once this pesky cold goes away!) Abby has been bringing blossoms inside for me everyday. I have the sweetest little girls a mama could ask for! Here are some photos of the roses, Riley, and just how big that bush has grown in the last three years. Next year I might have to actually do a little bit of work and prune it!
A real weed, but a pretty one!
A pretty girl who is growing like a weed!
Riley makes me happy! (Odds are, if you've met her you'd say the same.)
The sight and scent of these blossoms make me happy

How pretty! (Both the flowers and the kiddo :) )

Riley most definitely falls into the "happy" category :) And those roses are beautiful! My favourite definition of a weed is "Any plant growing where it is not wanted." So I think this might not be a weed now... :)
