Hendrik and the Wishing Pond

 

 

On our way out of the Vancouver Aquarium, we passed by a pond where people had been throwing coins and, presumably, making wishes.  Hendrik asked if I had a coin he could throw in so he could make a wish too.  I found some change in my wallet and passed the coin to him.  He tossed the coin into the water, and a few seconds later I hear the words, "I wish for lots of lizards."  Yep, sounds like a 6 year old boy's kind of wish to me!   I asked where he wished for lots of lizards to be.  His reply?  "Everywhere."  Here are some photos of the coin pond and the lizard-wishing boy.

 

 

 

(I love how kids try out so many different smiles and smirks!  You never know what you're going to get when you say, "Cheese!")

 

Overheard this morning in the living room...

(Two little girls playing spies with flower walkie-talkies.)

 
Riley: "Agent 2, do you read me?"

Abby: "Agent 1, do you see me?"

Riley: "Yes."

Abby: "Oh, well I will go somewhere where you can't see me."

Riley: "Agent 3, do you read me?"

Abby: "Yeah, but I don't have my phone with me." (off to find her pink play cell phone)

Riley: "Agent 3!"

Abby: "I do. I read you."

You can't make this stuff up.

 

Hendrik: "Why do only ladies have babies?"

Me: "It is a special job that only ladies can do."

Hendrik:  "Is it a sort of construction job?"

Riley:  "What are those called again?  Veggie-o's?"  ~ In reference to the package of Fudgee-o's...

Abby: Oh, Old Woman?  Old Woman?

Me: (Wondering if Abby is referring to me and trying to figure out if I should answer.)

Riley: I'm busy.

Abby:  Oh.  I wanted to ask you a question because my baby doesn't have her clothes on. (For those of you not versed in Abby speak - her baby is her doll, not Emma)
